Workshop – Spatial Prototyping in VR

For over thirty years the field of Virtual Reality has been explored, but it is only today that this fascinating medium finds a broader acceptance and shows a potential to not only change the way we consume media and video games, but to influence our workplaces and processes. From art to engineering VR as a medium brings possibilities that allow the experience of content in a spatial system, but also to be used as a design tool to modulate the environment in itself. During the course of the workshop students created 3d-models from real life objects using photogrammetry, used a game engine to bring those to life in an artificial virtual environment, and captured stereoscopic images and videos for sharing on Facebook or Youtube.

A collaboration of Prof. Felix Beck and Prof. Pablo Dornhege (University of the Arts Berlin).
